Concerts on Green returns to downtown Davidson

DAVIDSON – The town’s Concerts on the Green series takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on the first and third Sundays, May through September on the Village Green, 216 S. Main St.

The free concerts are family-oriented and occur rain or shine.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase, but coolers and picnics are welcome. Attendees bring their own chairs and blankets.

Free parking is available around the site. Handicap parking is available on Main Street, Concord Road and in the Davidson library parking lot off Concord Road.

May 20th featuring Rough Draft. Get ready to dance the night away with one of the south’s top variety bands ROUGH DRAFT! This seven piece party band will get you on the dance floor from the moment they hit the first note playing some of the top dance tunes of all time. Based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, this multi-talented group share many years of combined musical experiences in other popular groups. Their enthusiasm and excitement in each & every performance is contagious and creates a fun energy with each audience

Mooresville Race City Festival May 19th – Saturday from 9 am – 5 pm. The Race City Festival is “A Celebration of Lake Norman Area Arts & Culture” and is held outdoors along Main and Broad Streets in Downtown Mooresville, NC .

The Mooresville-South Iredell Chamber of Commerce hosts the annual event for the community. In addition to our local merchants, the outdoor street fair will feature the arts & culture of our community, local businesses, live music & other entertainment, an International food court, beer garden (new this year) plus a children’s area with rides and activities. There is no admission charge.

The Race City Festival is a true celebration of our diversified community and brings more than 10,000 show go-ers every year. Rain or Shine. Please spread the word – we don’t want anyone to miss out on this spectacular community event. Make a day of it, bring the family, friends and neighbors!! JRM Raceweek Activities. Beginning on Thursday, May 24, and continuing through Monday, May 28, the JRM facility in Mooresville, N.C. will host a number of activities for fans making the trek to NASCAR country.

For the second consecutive year, the driver autograph session will headline the festivities. Scheduled for Friday, May 25, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST the session features:

· Dale Earnhardt Jr., JRM co-owner and driver.

· Danica Patrick, driver of the No. 7 GoDaddy.com Chevrolet.

· Cole Whitt, driver of the No. 88 TaxSlayer.com Chevrolet.

· Kelley Earnhardt Miller, JRM co-owner and general manager.

· Karsyn Elledge, driver of the No. 3 Air Hogs go-cart.

· Josh Berry, driver of the No. 88 Speedco Chevrolet late model.

· L.W. Miller, driver of the No. 88 TaxSlayer.com / Speedco modified.

· Kerry Earnhardt, former NASCAR driver.

250 wristbands will be distributed for the autograph session at the JR Motorsports headquarters. A limited number of wristbands will be available each day beginning at 9 a.m. EST on Monday, May 21, and continuing daily through Friday at 9 a.m. EST until all wristbands are disbursed. Fans wishing to receive a wristband are asked to bring a pet item or nonperishable food items to be donated to The Dale Jr. Foundation.

Earnhardt Jr. and Patrick are slated to participate in Nationwide Insurance’s live web chat on Friday from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Fans in attendance can watch the chat, and are invited to be part of the action by submitting their own questions for the pair.

The newest addition for 2012 race week is shop tours. Fans will be treated to an all-access tour of JRM’s 66,000-square-foot facility. The behind-the-scenes tour will showcase car fabrication, setup plates, and the painting and decaling areas. The free tour lasts approximately 30 minutes and is only available on Thursday, May 24, and Friday, May 25, from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST. Tours are scheduled at the following times: 9:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Space is limited for each tour, to reserve your spot please email shoptours@jrmracing.com.

Additionally, fans will see firsthand authentic race cars, along with various cars from Earnhardt Jr.’s personal collection. Nationwide Insurance will be on site with a racing simulator, while other JRM partners will feature games, prizes and more.

Food Lion Speed Street is an annual consumer-focused festival held in Charlotte, N.C. The event takes place during Memorial Day Weekend. It’s mission is to provide fun, exciting, and FREE entertainment for anyone and everyone. Food Lion Speed Street takes place each year over Memorial Day Weekend. Bringing together cars, stars and guitars in Uptown Charlotte; Food Lion Speed Street is the perfect event for families, music fans, race fans, and more! This three day, FREE EVENT, arguably generates more excitement than any other single event in Charlotte during the month of May. Food Lion Speed Street serves as host to approximately 400,000 people and includes live musical acts on two different stages, interactive exhibits, food vendors, and celebrities for the bargain admission charge of nothing. You get access to racing’s brightest stars, and displays from sponsors Food Lion, Coca-Cola, Miller Lite, General Mills, Chevrolet and many more.
